The sultan of Malik Ambar’s last sixteen years and of his son Fath Khan’s first five — killed by Fath Khan “in the name of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan” — and a ruler whose very numbering the sources cannot agree on.

A name the sources dispute

The archive’s essay on the 1636 extinction records that Meadows Taylor numbers Malik Ambar’s protégé Murtaza II and the sultan of Khan Jahan Lodi’s rebellion Murtaza III, that Sarkar elsewhere calls Ambar’s protégé Burhan against Ferishta, and that the Jedhe chronology names a Burhan killed by Fath Khan. The Malik Ambar essay carries the killing. Neither his accession in 1610 nor its manner has yet been read from a page the archive can quote, so the Great Houses record no succession for him and say so.
