The market, not the mine · Horses, diamonds, muslin

Rootsthe tradition
Turki and arab horses landed for cavalry remounts, diamonds cut and sold far from the alluvial pits, muslin measured by the ell, indigo cakes, saltpetre ballast, cowrie small change.
The ideawhat it values
Goods take the name of the counter they crossed, not the ground they came out of. Stones were cut and graded where buyers gathered; cloth was woven inland and priced at the water; horses were bred far from the courts that paid for them. Follow the name and it leads to a market. The origin has to be reconstructed separately.
