Born Farid, son of Hasan Khan Soor; he usurped the Delhi throne from the Mughals after decisively defeating Humayun at Kanauj, assumed the title of Shah, and ruled until dying of wounds from a shell-burst at the siege of Kalinjar in 1545.

the reoccupation of Bengal, Sheer Khan assumed the title of Shah, or King, and causing coin to be struck, and public prayers to be read in his name, marched the next year with an army towards Agra.

The death of Sheer Shah happened on the 12th of Rubbee-ool-Awul, in the year 952. He spent fifteen years in a military life before he ascended the thrown, and sat on the musnud five years, as emperor of Hindoostan.
