Mahmud Shah III
Son of Prince Lutf Khan and nephew of Bahadur Shah, he had been held prisoner at Burhanpur before the Gujarat nobles secured his release and crowned him in 1538; he died in AH961/1554, an event Briggs's cited verse pairs with the deaths of Delhi's Islam Shah and the Deccan's Nizam-ul-Mulk in the same year.

He left Boorhanpoor for Guzerat on the 10th of Zeekad, in the year 944, and was formally crowned at Ahmudabad, and Yekhtiar Khan became prime minister.
