“After the death of his father, Ibrahim Nizam Shah succeeded to the throne, and in conformity with his dying request, he appointed his father’s tutor, Meean Munjoo Deccany, to be his prime minister.” The Bijapur ambassador who arrived “to condole and congratulate as is usual in lineal successions to the throne” was insulted by both court factions, and the war that followed killed the king.
He left “only son Bahadur, an infant in arms”, whom the minister sent to the fort of Chavand while a pretender was crowned instead. The archive holds the 1595 accession as an ordinary inheritance — one of only two in the Ahmadnagar line it can source.
