Tatar Khan's "good work" and "especial devotion" in battles, such as the war with Rana Sanga, cemented the Gakkhars' place as allies. Sultan Adam's position was delicate. He had previously concluded a treaty with Sikandar Sur, another Afghan contender for power, who held Sultan Adam's son, Lashkari, as a hostage. Surrendering Kamran risked breaking this compact and endangering his son. He conveyed these concerns to Humayun, explaining his predicament with "humble language" and "apologies."

Despite the potential complications, Humayun, recognizing the Gakkhars' historical loyalty and Sultan Adam's difficult position, initially hesitated to force the issue. However, the strategic importance of securing Kamran and the need to quell rebellion eventually led Humayun to march towards the Gakhar country.

Sultan Adam, after some understandable "landholder-like excuses" and hesitation, ultimately made his choice. Through the efforts of Mun'im Khan, sent by Humayun to soothe and persuade him, Sultan Adam brought Mirza Kamran to the imperial camp near Parhala.
